Alone in the Dark

So it starts again
The glimmer of hope
Snatched away
Almost in your hands
Then gone like a shadow
The smiling,lying faces
How many times can you fight
Before weariness over takes you
How strong must I be
This alone
In the dark
Give me the pain
I will take the rage
But does it have to be always
This alone
In the dark
Tonight life feels endless
Betrayed by my own thoughts
Killed by emotions long dormant
Wanting to belong again
After so long not caring
Couldn't I have just stayed away
I will never fit in
Anywhere
I am alone
In the dark
I am dead
Some one just forgot to tell me

poem

New blog

To Those (Honor)

There is also honor in those who wait
The one's who sit home and pray
That it won't be their loved one
That meet the wrong side of a bullet
Roadside bomb or downed helicopter
These people don't have the action To keep them going,
Or a brother in a bunker
To depend on
What they have is hope faith love
FEAR and honor
As they wait
Hoping they don't get that phone call or letter
"Sorry we regret to inform you ...."
There is honor in those that keep the children calm
When daddy or mommy goes to war
Without coming home

There is honor in a parents pride and worry
As they wonder but say nothing Dealing with the changed human being That returns from war
To Those, Honor

All honor to my brave soldier
That he can remain true to his cause
Also to himself in this time of darkness
Let him know we understand that sometimes
Coming home is the hardest part of all
After seeing the things you have To look at a playground not covered in blood
Knowing the mere words could not explain
Feeling a stranger in your own world
All honor goes to those given time to heal
To those who serve
To those who wait
To those we lost
Honor and a hope for peace

Not Enough for Drips of Ink by Evil Twin on Myspace

Not Enough for Drips of Ink by Evil Twin on MyspaceNot Enough

Mother oh mother
Why did you forsake me so
Was I the least of your children
Was it my ugliness?
Perhaps you thought me defective
Because I didn't tslk until I was almost 4
Didn't talk, not so much as a single word by 5
You took mr to doctor after doctor
To find out what was wrong with me
But none ever did
I finally started talking right before kindergarten
Not baby talk but talked as a full grown human
Sometime, somehow I had taught myself to read
Still it was never enough
I felt less then
Sraight A's didn't count, nor awards
Nothing I did was good enough for you
When the divorce came I was told I would be living with you
Yet just one year later you planned a move
A two bedroom apartment with four of us
It was not big enough to house us so I was basically told to go

find a new place to live.
I was 15 and all alone
So alone unloved
I was never good enough for you.
I remember my first poem that was published (5th grade)
It was my badge of honor
To you it meant nothing
I still feel that lack of
Less then when I see my mom
Why couldn't mommy love me?

Waiting to be Devoured

Waiting to be Devoured

Wrapped around your heart
No owner's manual inside
"Love is a naked shadow
On a gnarled and naked tree.''

Impossible to figure
A treasure hidden away
Waiting for a question
To answer all your dreams

Love needs no money
No fancy cars
The only thing love needs
Is someone who cares

Branches wrapped around the heart
Keeping it safe and warm
Like jam on a piece of toast
Waiting to be devoured

Love is ambrosia
Impossible to describe
One taste imprisons you
With no place to hide

Become or Undone

Become or Undone

A small taste was all I needed
To fuel the flames
From the time before time
When I was young and unsure
Releasing me to find the path
My test to become or undone

Then men arrived and my world changed
I walked through towns
Undetected by everything but one cat
Who hissed when I went by
Wanting everything even without need

Like the humans, they claimed everything
Watching tasting learning the ways of men
Took the risk and donned a body
So we could blend in without question

Their rituals were intriguing
When the fire burned out the body
It was buried deep and left to sleep
For some reason most could never see
The portion of life they called soul

Yet finally those they called dead
Saw and spoke to me
Following me from place to place
Trying to garner truth of what happened
Why families chose not to see

So I took them to my heart
Taught them truths they had failed to see
To love and give freely to those who hurt
Offering up a part of each of us
So those on the other side
Knew they were not alone

It is the living we wait upon
To join us here, the place of no fear
Some name it heaven, some paradise
For me it is just home
I have been away far too long

Grace Reborn

Grace Reborn

We met on a tragic occasion
Through the tears of pain
You captured my gaze and smiled
For that one moment I felt as if the worst was over
A sound in the distance, a song?
Yes! Amazing Grace was heard growing louder as more voices join
Did you notice how our vocals matched so perfectly
Hope rebuilt, renewed by grace, Amazing!

Fate's Hammer

Fate's Hammer

Hallowed be thy name
Well until you make a wrong turn
The path comes to a dead end
Time is running out hurry hurry
The cries of the lost angels
Bleeding from wounds
Inflicted by fate's power
Swift and mighty
The hammer of justice
Brings down the evil doers
Rejoice now ye who hath been faithful
Thy rod in your hand can be released
Until the need is past
The end of hatred
Peace and love
Drift slowly across the land
Beautiful rainbows appear
Voices are raised in song
Time has slowed as the cries
Of the bleeding ones rise
From this day forth
Fate's  promise kept
The mighty will of the people
Have taken Thor's hammer
Until the end, time cries
Bleeding from fate's mighty hammer

Parade of Pain

Parade of Pain

Watching the parade of pain go by
People so contorted they no longer look human
Stuck inside the pain
Some reveling in theirs
Since it is all that defines them

No learning or growing
Just endless recycling misery that has become life
Alternating between bitterness grief and wretchedness
As if not one happy moment has ever intruded into their world

Wallowing in the pain as in the mud
Blaming the world
Demanding love because they are so ugly
They must be beautiful
Their point of view reinforced
The men who want them on their back
Women who slept their way to the bottom
All keeping the martyrdom alive

Why grow from your anguish
When you wear it so well
Writing words that keep them coming back for more
So what you never heal
Everyone loves you
Who cares that your children are now damaged too
Everyone loves you and now they can join the parade

So start a club to see who was abused the most
Who took it and took it and took it and took it
Let's glorify it but never move passed it
The parents were mean and drunk so it's come to this
Now the circle continues on
In ten years it will be your children
About whom I write
As no one wants to heal or heed the call of the past
All that is left is someone to blame

So I sit on the sidelines
No longer sure that I can care about you
When you won't even try
Telling me in private how you want to be real
Tired of the fake laughter and the sex jokes
Then in public acting so different

Your club seems to be growing as more hurt angry people join
The pain reflecting off each others
Feeding it until it grows so large I fear it will devour the world
Funerals held for those who followed Sylvia Plath's path
Feeling angry at the writer of words I understand

What the hope is today in this the month of death
Is that you try to release some pain and anger
Maybe forgive just one person that hurt you
Mourn the past but remember it's gone and start a future
Measure some love to yourself and your children
Wash off the dirt stand up and move on
Fight until you can forgive this unforgiving world
Then you begin to breath and live free

Broken Barbie Doll

Faceless Nameless
Does anyone even care
I am just another of the forgotten
Abandoned in a world with out hope
A broken Barbie doll
On a dirty street corner

Yes there were dreams
Once upon a time
Laughter came easily
When my face belonged to me
Before my soul was cracked
My heart broken and step on

The mirror is repellent now
The monster staring back is me
Used abused it no longer matters
Broken I am lost to the world
All that remains a series of masks
My armor to shield me from the pain

Justify

At the end of the road lays two gates
Justify your life said the gatekeeper
Justify I ask?
Do you not know the meaning
Absolve
Acquit
Advocate
Justify yourself or you may not pass

Down into my past I travel
Looking for something to vindicate my life
All I see is the darkness a morass of emotions
How my countenance remained steady I do not know
What words could validate let alone exonerate
A life spent being the center of the universe
Selfish egotistical self-seeking
Thinking further back maybe there is something?

A glimmer of a memory
A boy on crutches for all his life
Made fun of by cruel children
Except one
As I walked the halls of school
A bully pushed the boy down, his books flying
Everyone laughed
Except one
Walking through the crowd I shouted at them
Picking up his books and helping him from the floor
For that I was jeered but I cared not

Would this be enough to get me through a gate
Then I pause, there are two openings
Which way do I want to go
Well I take my chance it is all I have
I speak the words and wait

The gatekeeper says that is not enough to justify
As I begin to wonder what next he adds
It is enough however to save you from that gate
He points to one which suddenly says
Hell One Way Traffic Only
Yet not enough for the other gate marked
Heaven, Angel Crossing
Then what am I to do I ask in despair
Do? The gatekeeper says
You are to go back and live
Until one of these gates will open for you.

Canadian Beefcake?

Ok, so yesterday I was cruising the poetry blogs on myspace and came upon on by someone I had never seen before. As I often do, I peek in and take a read.
It was song lyrics. Quite good one too. I left a comment saying so,then sent a friend request. This person who's myspace name is Canadian Beefcake has over 31,000 friends.
I didn't think twice about it.
I read his profile about what a sweet romantic guy he was and how he has been burned by so many terrible people on myspace etc etc. Now knowing myspace as I do I could believe that easily enough. But I am neither mean, hurtful OR looking for romance.I write poetry and song lyrics. I enjoy reading other peoples too.
So I went back and guess what? He has BLOCKED me!! Not just turned down my request, but blocked me!! His status says he is auctioning his phone number and expects high numbers. I read his profile a little closer. He says "I am very good at what I do and that is sex" Well, ok fine. So the guy is selling himself on myspace? Whatever. I wasn't planning on bidding. Is that a crime? Is myspace his pimp?
I just can't understand why a person with 31,000 friends would block ME for no reason at all. I could care less what the man does.
I just liked his song.....

Lullaby For a Warrior

Lullaby For a Warrior

Rest old warrior
Let your spirit fly
Your ancestors await
The fighting's done
Sleep now wise one

Sing the song of peace
Let your enemies lie
The world in time has passed
Our paths no longer cross
Their gain our sad loss

Lay across your burial bed
Strong man always true
I have shorn my hair
Stood tall before the oncoming gale
Danced the Ghost Walker's Trail

So take your repose hero man
My lullaby continues until sunset
Your wisdom remains behind
Reminding us we are a proud nation
Bringing back thoughts of creation

What has happened to poets?

Can someone explain to me why poets are at each others throats? Spoken word and the writers of our beautiful prose all in a battle to the death. I spoke of it with my guests today on my radio show, The Full Circle with Kismet.
I was even able to bring up the issue of race division on the radio shows and in the poetry sites and blog hot spots such as myspace. It has been noticed but no one has spoken up about it. I did today on my show. Along with my guest Amarie spoken word poet and QuietStorm of the SpokenWord., who's book is at the printer as I type and is working on getting his CD finished. These are the people we want at the fore front of our movement. People who want to better not only their lives but enrich and uplift others. You can listen to the show here.
